Abiliti™ Overnight Lenses for Myopia Management
Control Myopia Once and For All
In recent years, the prevalence of myopia (nearsightedness) in children has reached pandemic proportions, with an estimated 1.45 billion people currently living with this common vision problem worldwide.
According to many researchers, by 2050 approximately 5 billion people will be nearsighted.
These numbers are concerning, as progressive myopia doesn’t only require stronger lenses, but increases the risk of sight-threatening eye conditions, such as cataracts, glaucoma, myopic retinal degeneration and retinal detachment, in the future.
The good news is that there are proven ways to slow and even halt myopia progression, to protect your child’s vision and eye health, both now and in the future.
What is Myopia Management?
While standard eyeglasses and contact lenses can correct myopia and provide clear distance vision, they cannot stop myopia from progressing.
If your child’s optical prescription has been increasing at least every year, speak with your eye doctor about myopia management. Myopia management is a customized program that slows myopia progression or halts it completely.
What Are Abiliti Overnight Lenses?
Abiliti Overnight lenses are therapeutic orthokeratology (ortho-k) lenses, specially designed to temporarily reshape your cornea while you sleep.
Ortho-k lenses apply gentle pressure to the center of the cornea, flattening and reshaping it at night, so you have clear vision during waking hours.
When the lenses are removed in the morning, you will immediately enjoy clearer, sharper vision, without the need for glasses or contact lenses. Abiliti Overnight lenses eliminate the need for daytime eyewear altogether, as their effects last all day long.
Abiliti Overnight lenses are available in two different designs: one for myopia management for myopia only, and the other for myopia management with astigmatism.
These therapeutic lenses are custom-fit to each eye.
According to Johnson & Johnson Vision, the software has shown a “first fit success rate” of around 90-95% percent, depending on the type of refractive error the patient has.
